West, one of the world's biggest rap stars, song writers and producers, announced on Twitter that he would be running for president of the United States this year. "I am running for president of the United States #2020VISION", he wrote, alongside an emoji of the American flag.

Rapper Kanye West is keen on expanding his current work load as he took to social media on early Sunday morning (IST) to reveal that he plans on running for the 2020 presidential elections in the United States.

It was unclear if West has a campaign staff as of this time.

With the USA election just four months away, West has already passed plenty of State filing deadlines and primary elections. The CEO of SpaceX quickly replied to Kanye's tweet writing, "You have my full support!".

Last November, at Fast Company's Innovation Festival, Kanye told a crowd: "When I run for President in 2024", before he was interrupted by sniggering in the audience.

"When I run for president in 2024, we're going to definitely - yo, whatchu [sic] all laughing at?" he said at the time.

Regardless, Twitter blew up at the news West could be in the mix for Donald Trump's job, with some pledging their vote. I'm not going to run, I'm going to walk.

West's Saturday night post instantly went viral, with more than 100,000 retweets within the first hour. Both parties have already announced the dates for their national conventions where they are expected to nominate Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden. West and his wife Kim Kardashian West have visited Trump in the White House. He also delivered a rambling, profanity-laden speech in which he discussed alternative universes and his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which he said was actually sleep deprivation.
