Juventus & Barcelona complete Pjanic-Arthur swap deal

According to the statements released by Barcelona and Juventus, the deal is worth pound 72 million (£66m/$81m) plus up to pound 10m in bonuses.

Barcelona midfielder Arthur Melo will join Juventus at the end of the current season, with Miralem Pjanic moving in the opposite direction, the two clubs announced on Monday.

It raises the possibility that Arthur and Pjanic could yet face each other, and their future clubs, in the Champions League final eight in Portugal, should both sides win their outstanding last 16, second leg matches. "The Italian club will pay 72 million euros, plus 10 million euros in variables", read a Barcelona statement.

The World Cup-winning goalkeeper has played a back-up role to former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny, but will continue with the club until at least the end of next season.

"A definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Arthur Henrique Ramos De Oliveira Melo for a consideration of 72 million euros payable in four financial years".

Barcelona are two points adrift of leaders Real Madrid with six league games remaining and the Brazilian looks set to be available for the Spanish club when the Champions League resumes in August. Eventually, he became the 3rd most capped (92) player and the 6th best goalscorer (15) in the country's global football history.
