He was sentenced to 40 months and was due to report to federal prison this week.

He said if subpoenaed, Stone would have three options.

"I am grateful for the commutation of my sentence and that the president, in an act of both justice and mercy, has recognized that I did not receive a fair trial as well as recognizing the imminent danger of sending me, at age 67 and with a history of asthma, to a correctional facility that now has 60 confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus".

Trump's long-time supporter and aide Roger Stone was convicted in November 2019 on seven counts of obstruction of justice, lying to Congress and witness tampering over his 2017 testimony to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in relation to Robert Mueller's investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russian Federation and communications with WikiLeaks during the 2016 United States pre, sidential election.

He accused Jeannie Rhee, one of Mueller's prosecutors, of dangling the possibility of avoiding prison if he "re-remembered" events. Stone has information more damaging to the president's prospects for reelection than the commutation of his sentence?

"I intend to continue to press for justice for Gen. (Michael) Flynn, because I still think that the dismissal of the charges against him is entirely legally justified".

'What I said has been consistent - that I would not lie against my friend of 40 years so they could use it for impeachment'.

The commutation order, published on Monday, said Trump commuted the entirety of the prison sentence, the term of supervised release, and the unpaid remainder of the imposed fine.

"We did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government in its activities", Mueller wrote.

Trump commuted Stone's prison sentence last Friday, days before the GOP operative was slated to begin serving this week after being found guilty of lying to Congress, obstruction and witness tampering on his communications with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange during the 2016 election.

Stone's commutation drew a rare public statement from Mueller, who defended his investigation amid Trump's attacks. "And then I have an interview with (Fox News') Sean Hannity tonight, which I'm looking forward to".

Roger Stone has been an ally to President Trump, he is a well known American conservative political consultant and lobbyist. "Stone before a grand jury".

'I have to be convinced I could get a fair second trial, ' he said.

His legal team unsuccessfully tried to get US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson disqualified from the case citing her potential bias and set up a new trial following the revelations of political leanings of forewoman Tomeka Hart.

Stone, who is now considering whether to appeal and seek to have his sentence fully wiped, said that Mueller's team were desperate for him to change his story. To the contrary, that Mr. Trump may have conspired - with our sworn enemy no less - to get elected to a position that then shielded him from culpability for breaking federal laws and covering it up should have created a scenario in which the usual guideline does not apply.
