"It really was special to me to see the Black players that were in the National Hockey League - to see Grant Fuhr starring, to be able to say to other people: 'Look at Grant Fuhr".

Iginla will receive enshrinement in his first year of eligibility, a recognition of two decades of strong play highlighted by two Rocket Richard Trophies, an Art Ross Trophy and a Mark Messier Leadership Award.

Iginla, who is the 59th Hall of Fame player/coach/builder linked to the Bruins organization, is best known for his 16-plus seasons with the Calgary Flames - where he holds the franchise's records in career goals, points and games played. "You get on the bench and you're a fan".

The first female netminder to earn induction, St-Pierre ranks at or near the top in every major category with Canada's National Women's Team - she is first in games played (83), minutes played (4,552), wins (64) and shutouts (29), and sits second in goals-against average (1.17) and save percentage (.939).

He helped teams into the playoffs eight times, and was captain of the Flames when they reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2004, though he never won a Stanley Cup. This means so much to me.

Hossa played on all three of the Blackhawks most recent Stanley Cup Championship teams in 2010, 2013, and 2015. "I've still got a picture in my office when I first touched the Stanley Cup". Hossa will remain on Arizona's books through the end of the 2020-21 season.

Marian Hossa has officially received the call to the Hall. "It was an incredible moment".

The hall's selection committee met for the first time via an online forum because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony is tentatively scheduled for November 13 in Toronto, though that could obviously change depending on the state of the coronavirus pandemic.

Iginla is the fourth Black player elected to the Hall, following former goaltender Grant Fuhr, women's hockey standout Angela James, and Black hockey pioneer Willie O'Ree.

Jarome Iginla stood atop the podium nearly everywhere he went with Team Canada - at the 1994 La Copa Mexico (summer under-18), 1996 IIHF World Junior Championship, 1997 IIHF World Championship, 2002 and 2010 Olympic Winter Games and 2004 World Cup of Hockey. After wanting to be like Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy, she traded in her figure skates for goalie equipment and backstopped Canada to three Olympic gold medals and five world championship titles. He now serves as the San Jose Sharks' general manager.

Following his playing career, Holland served as a scout with Detroit before moving up to assistant GM.

"This is an incredible day", said Holland, who was hired as Edmonton's GM last May.

So clearly, a decorated career such as his was always going to be honoured with an induction to the Hall Of Fame.
