Anti-mask activists organized a protest on Saturday at a grilled cheese restaurant and bar in Windermere, Florida, which is in Orange County about 12 miles (19 km) from Walt Disney World.

However, with social distancing and timed entry park passes required, it wouldn't be very fair if Walt Disney World kept this system, which is why Disney has announced that when Disney's Hollywood Studios reopens next week Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will use of staggered booking windows to distribute boarding passes, which will now become available starting at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, giving everyone a chance to experience this attraction, no matter when their Parks Pass reservation time is.

Major US entertainment company Walt Disney has reopened its flagship theme park in the state of Florida after almost four months of coronavirus closure.

Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando closed around the same time but reopened several weeks ago after instituting similar rules to protect employees and customers. Hot or not, mask or not, we're just happy to be here.

Watkins said that when she and her 16-year-old daughter walked into the Magic Kingdom on Saturday morning, then saw all the cast members lined up and clapping on Main Street, she cried. Gone are the park's famous parades which allow mingling with Disney characters, and also absent are the evening fireworks shows.

She said: "I have missed coming here". It's kind of our second home.

Park-goers said almost everyone appeared to be wearing masks, and adhering to social distancing. Capacity is nowhere near where it is under normal circumstances, they said.

Other changes mean visitors can not hug the costumed Disney characters. In May, the company opened Disney Springs, a complex of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
