Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said his attempt to return Manchester United to the top of English football is moving quicker than expected.

Manchester United's penultimate away game of the Premier League season sees them visit Selhurst Park on Thursday evening to face Crystal Palace.

Writing in his column for Metro, Berbatov said: "If Man United lose this one and the other teams pushing for top four win then it will be very hard for them to achieve their goal".

"I think we've hurried this process up by quite a distance with what we've done since we started this season", Solskjaer said.

"Especially without there being any fans there, it will be a new experience but we want to go there and get the victory".

Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho were among those who appeared to criticise the decision but Solskjaer says his only concern is that the Financial Fair Play rules are not scrapped in the aftermath.

"I know they will be fired up for this on though, and they will know exactly what is at stake, I don't think they will let themselves miss another opportunity, like they did against Southampton".

"My job is to focus on the next game and do the right things".

"Keep on doing what we have been doing".

The manager has been naming an unchanged XI for a series of consecutive matches but with the FA Cup clash vs Chelsea coming up this weekend, Solskjaer was asked if he would rotate his starting line-up at Selhurst Park on Thursday night.

United are likely to be without Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams, whilst Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe are long-term absentees. "But it's very good to have him available at least and he himself feels good and would be very happy to play the number of minutes I feel I could give him".

He said: "The team selection on Thursday is based on Thursday and not on Sunday". Sunday is irrelevant, it doesn't come into my head at all.

"The injury situation, there were a couple of doubts before the Southampton one, but they all reported fit on the day".
