(Titles streaming through rent or purchase are unavailable for watch parties.) From there, attendees can watch in tandem and message one another in the service's chat room.

A few caveats apply, like the fact that only desktop browsers are supported (but not Safari or Internet Explorer). Groups are limited to Prime members in the U.S. right now, so you won't be able to invite your overseas pen pal to the party.

Amazon Prime Video is rolling out its own social viewing experience in the US.

American subscribers will also be able to access Watch Party while they are overseas through the "Watch While Abroad" feature. It may not be a big deal to many Prime members, but it may be a bummer for those used to watching on a more cinematic display. Again, this makes sense, but it's an important distinction to note.
