7 new cases of COVID-19; 1 new death

The last time the number of new cases was this low was Wednesday, July 15th.

The World Health Organization has said that in countries that have conducted extensive testing for COVID-19, the positivity rate should remain at 5% or lower for at least 14 days.


Only one of Nelson County case is hospitalized; 32 people are isolated at home, and 136 people have recovered. 28 people in Jackson County have been hospitalized since the pandemic began, with 18 of those reported in July alone.

In Thursday's report from the Indiana State Department of Health, Starke County reported one additional COVID-19 death to bring the total to seven while Marshall County had one additional COVID-19 death to increase that total to 21.


"It took almost 4 months into the pandemic for Jackson County to hit 100 cases", said Jackson Baures, division manager for Jackson County Public Health.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath.


MEADE COUNTY. No new COVID-19 cases were reported in Meade County, leaving that county's case total at 71 cases.
