'Respect' trailer shows Jennifer Hudson in Aretha Franklin biopic

The legacy continues! The official trailer for "Respect", Aretha Franklin 's biopic film has been released.

Jennifer Hudson, 38, just blew us away again!

The BET Awards were held this evening, featuring a performance from Jennifer Hudson, and tied to that special appearance is this exciting Respect trailer.

The long-awaited film follows Franklin's life from singing in her father's church, to becoming one of the most legendary musicians of all time.

Also starring in the film: Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige.

Respect is due for release on January 22, 2021. The film comes two years after the Queen of Soul passed following a battle with cancer.

This is the first look at the new MGM pic about the Queen of Soul since December and gives us more to devour as the Oscar-winning actress tackles the role with all that she has got as she sings the titular song from Franklin. Through her storied career, which began in 1966 after she signed to Atlantic Records, she earned 17 Grammy awards and many other accolades.
