Earlier this month, the UAE's ambassador to the United States published an op-ed in an Israeli newspaper confirming that ties had improved but warning Israel that proceeding with annexation would "upend" any efforts to normalize relations with Arab states.

It also said that planes from Abu Dhabi would directly land at Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv.

Two private companies from the United Arab Emirates and two Israeli companies will work together on medical projects, including those to combat the new coronavirus, the UAE's state-run news agency WAM said.

Israel and the UAE do not have formal diplomatic relations, but they are believed to maintain close behind-the-scenes contacts due to their shared concerns about Iran.

In his much-maligned Middle East peace plan, unveiled alongside a smiling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington, US president Donald Trump gave Israel the green light to annex territory occupied by Israel since 1967.

"This cooperation will be in research and development, and technology, fields which could improve the health security of the entire region", he added.

In a June 26 statement to the U.N. Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner, Lynk wrote: "It has sometimes been said by critics of the EU's foreign policy towards Israel and Palestine that it suffers from paralysis and inaction". "This is the result of continuous and intensive contacts over the past few months".

While more than 1,000 European lawmakers signed a joint letter last week protesting Israel's sovereignty plan, the European Union has so far failed to reach a unified decision on the matter, which it must do in order to pass a resolution.

Speaking to a conference of the American Jewish Committee advocacy group on June 16, Gargash said Israel can not expect to normalize relations with the Arab world if it annexes West Bank land.

It came a day after the armed wing of Hamas warned Israel's annexation plans amounted to a "declaration of war". It refers to Jerusalem as "Israel's undivided capital" and recognises Israeli sovereignty over large parts of the West Bank.
