Google today announced the third Pixel feature drop, adding adaptive battery improvements, new safety features, and other improvements.

To help people strike the balance between phone time and bedtime at night, Google is adding a new "Bedtime" tab on the Clock app of Pixel phones.

Google is also giving the Clock app more powers. And you can ask Assistant to save recording transcripts to Google Docks for you.

Android update delivers new ‘Bedtime’ features focused on improving sleep

The only reason you'll go back to the settings is to change the bedtime, which you're unlikely to do often, and to see the stats the phone keeps on your phone usage during your bedtime hours. And to make waking up to an alarm less jarring, the Clock app can show a "Sunrise Alarm" with increasingly bright colors.

Here, you can set daily sleep and wake times. This way, you can adjust your bedtime if needed to sync up with tomorrow's schedule - even if that means diverting from your typical bedtime schedule.

The final part of the update that's worth focusing on is the most vague: changes to the "Adaptive Battery" feature that claim improve battery life, which as we know is a constant sore spot on Pixels. If your Android smartphone has Digital Wellbeing and parental controls settings, then you should be able to use Bedtime mode as well. Pixel devices will be getting a handful of other updates, as well, including Adaptive Battery.

Personal Safety improvements. The Personal Safety debuted on Pixel 4 but now it's coming to all supported Pixel devices, and auto crash detection is also coming to Pixel 3. If someone goes on a run or hike alone, the safety check will make sure he returns safely. If you want to stay up a little longer, you can pause Bedtime mode and not interrupt the schedule in the app.

Google has pushed several new features to Pixel phone users to improve their experience, especially if they are using older phones.

New feature called safety check schedules a check-in from the app at a later time. First off, Adaptive Battery (on Pixel 2 and newer) will predict when your battery is going to run out and further reduce background activity so that it delays that point somewhat.

Google phones will also get an upgrade to Recorder app that integrates it with Google Assistant, letting you "Hey Google' to start recording or intelligently search for keywords or subjects along with saving directly to Google Docs".

"In the event that you need immediate help or are in a risky situation, emergency sharing notifies all of your emergency contacts and shares your real-time location through Google Maps so they can send help or find you", said the company.

The Personal Safety app will also no longer be limited to just the Pixel 4 phones but will be available for all Pixel phones.
