Finally, some of J.R.'s friends step in and the other guy scurries off in a hurry.

TMZ Sports released the footage of Smith kicking and punching the man, and he landed several shots to his head.

On Sunday, Smith said to a camera in a video he shared that "one of these little [expletive] white boys didn't know where he was going and broke my [expletive] window in my truck". Broke my [expletive] - this is a residential area, there wasn't no stores over here, none of that [expletive] - broke my window. He also punches the man in the face as he gets up and runs away. "I chased him down and whooped his ass".

Smith spoke about the incident during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday, and he called it a "random act of stupidness" from both him and the person who vandalized his truck.

Los Angeles and other major US cities have been besieged for days by violent protests and rioting, spurred by the Memorial Day death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.

Smith asserted that what he did to the alleged window-breaker was not a "hate crime". I ain't got no problem with anybody.

Derek Chauvin, the officer seen lying on Floyd's neck while he was in custody, has been arrested and charged with third degree murder and manslaughter. "I have a problem with the (expletive) system".

Smith is a free agent who last played in the National Basketball Association for Cleveland Cavaliers (11 games) last season.

JR Smith won the NBA Championship with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
