Global covid-19 cases hit 1 crore as pandemic gains momentum

With 19,906 new cases, highest single-day spike so far, India's COVID-19 count touched 5,28,859 including 2,03,051 active cases, 3,09,713 cured/discharged/migrated, according to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The number of novel coronavirus cases surpassed 10 million on Sunday morning, Johns Hopkins data shows.

- In Tamil Nadu, 78,335 people have tested coronavirus positive till date, of which 33,213 are under treatment.

A total of 2,791 people have been infected by the virus in Uttarakhand, 2,545 in Chhattisgarh, 2,339 in Jharkhand, 1,334 in Tripura, 1,128 in Goa, 1,092 in Manipur, 960 in Ladakh and 894 in Himachal Pradesh.

India has been grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic for over five months now.

- Kerala has reported a total of 4,071 coronavirus positive patients, of which 1,939 are active. 7,287 patients have recovered, and the state has reported 180 deaths. 2,108 people have recovered, and there have been 23 deaths.

The Arkansas Department of Health said that there are now 19,310 reported cases in the state. With 1,400 new infections, Mumbai's tally has climbed to 74,252. The state saw 5,318 new cases on June 27.

States with more than 10,000 cases include Gujarat with 30,709 cases and 1,789 deaths, Uttar Pradesh (21,549), Rajasthan (16,944), Madhya Pradesh (12,965), West Bengal (16,711), Haryana (13,427), Karnataka, (11,923), Andhra Pradesh (12,285) and Telangana (13,436) cases.

Europe remains the hardest hit continent with 2,637,546 cases including 195,975 fatalities, while the United States has 2,510,323 infections including 125,539 deaths.

Global coronavirus cases exceeded 10 million and nearly half a million people have lost their lived due to the virus in seven months according to news agency Reuters.
