Geary County Health Department announces 1st COVID-19 related death

Now 45 cases have fully recovered and are off quarantine with a remainder of 49 Active Cases in quarantine at this time either at home or hospitalized, and 3 Deaths.

Person County has surpassed 50 COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday, according to the county Health Department.

There has been one COVID-related death.


The Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department has announced 17 new cases of COVID-19. The county also reported 390 medical surge beds available and 140 patients hospitalized.

Health experts say the close proximity of participants, running and yelling or chanting, may increase transmission because people emit more respiratory droplets under these conditions.

By ages, the 80-89-year-old group has the most deaths with 24, followed by 70-79 (20), 60-69 (12), 90-99 (11), 50-59 (5), 40-49 (1) and 99 and older (1).


The county's total is at 309.

Among local ZIP codes, Woodstock (60098) has the highest number of cases in McHenry County with 290, followed by Crystal Lake (60014) with 225.

All other ZIP codes have five or fewer cases.


The Pottawattamie County Public Health Department reported 2 new COVID-19 cases.
