TMZ confirmed that Mayweather offered to pay for services for Floyd in Houston, Minnesota and Charlotte, as well as another that Floyd's family hopes to hold at a yet-to-be-named location.

"He'll probably get mad at me for saying that, but yes, (Mayweather) is definitely paying for the funeral", Ellerbe said. His death sparked protests in Minneapolis and around the country, some of which became violent.

Floyd Mayweather has offered to pay for all four funeral services planned for George Floyd, whose death in Minnesota has inspired protests and demonstrations across many cities in the United States and elsewhere around the world.

On May 25, Floyd was killed after police officer Derek Chauvin had his knee on the neck of George for over eight minutes. "Floyd has done these kind of things over the last 20 years".

Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Mayweather made the offer after learning that Anzel Jennings, CEO of TMT Music Group, grew up with Floyd, TMZ Sports reports.

Mayweather will pay for Floyd's funeral, which is scheduled for June 9 in Floyd's hometown of Houston.

Mayweather previously paid for the 2011 funeral of Genaro Hernandez, who died at age 45 of rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of muscular cancer. Hernandez was the fighter Mayweather defeated to win his first world title, the WBC 130-pound belt, back in 1998. The retired, undefeated five-division champion won't talk publicly about the gesture or his interactions with the Floyd family, according to Ellerbe.
