In fact, the Belgian prince travelled to Spain from Belgium on May 24 for an internship - two days before the party took place.

A Belgian prince has apologised after being caught breaking Spain's lockdown rules by attending a party, where he became infected with Covid-19.

In a statement, he said: "I apologise for not respecting all quarantine measures during my trip".

He added: "In these hard times I did not want to offend anyone".

"I deeply regret my actions", he said in a statement on Sunday.

The Spanish El Pais newspaper reported that 27 people were at the party, 12 more than the maximum of 15 people now allowed to meet under the restrictions in place in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia.

In addition, gatherings of more than 15 people who don't live together are not now permitted under the confinement rules in place in Córdoba.

Everyone who attended the party is said to be in quarantine.

The five children of Princess Astrid, Prince Joachim, Prince Amedeo and his fiancee Elisabetta Rosboch von Wolkenstein, Princess Laetitia Maria, Princess Maria Laura and Princess Luisa Maria.

According to Prince Joachim's spokesperson, the Belgian Royal Palace could not confirm the number of people in attendance.

He was one of 27 people at the party and is only experiencing mild COVID-19 symptoms, so no need to panic if you're a fan of the Belgian Royal Family for some reason.

Spanish police said they had launched an investigation into the incident and those who breached restrictions could face fines of between 600 and 10,000 euros.

Prince Joachim, on the other hand, got up to no good in Spain and is now paying the price.

The nation is lifting lockdown after having some of the strictest rules in Europe.

"I feel surprised and indignant... An incident of this type stands out at a moment of national mourning for so many dead", she said. It was attended by 27 people, which is contrary to the law of Spain, because in the conditions of the pandemic is allowed to gather up to 15 people.
