Andre Wisdom: Derby defender in hospital after being stabbed

In a statement, a spokesperson for Derby County said: 'Derby County Football Club can confirm that Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.

Wisdom joined West Brom on-loan from Liverpool in 2014, making 26 appearances for the Baggies, notching two assists.

The 27-year-old suffered stab wounds to his head and buttocks after being assaulted by four males wearing masks and armed with knives.

Wisdom was rushed to the hospital for treatment, and according to reports in the United Kingdom, the wounds are not life-threatening.


His injuries are not "thought to be life-threatening" and the former Liverpool player is a stable condition.

Detectives have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

Wisdom continues to receive treatment for injuries as Merseyside Police investigate the stabbing.

His sister is quoted as saying: "He's been stabbed and is in hospital".


Derby County today tweeted picture of Wisdom alongside the message: 'Get well soon, Wis'.

The defender is now recovering in hospital, with Derby confirming that Wisdom sustained injuries during the attack.

Derby fans have started a fundraising campaign for a flag to show their support for Wisdom at home games, which has so far raised £4,230 ($5,200).
