5 dead as terrorists attack Pakistan Stock Exchange in Karachi

Security forces on Monday have foiled an attack at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi and killed all four terrorists.

Initial reports said that four attackers came out of their vehicle and threw grenades after which they reportedly entered the building.

Local television stations are showing police in full body armor surrounding the building but still staying outside the high walled compound of the stock exchange.

"The attackers were wearing uniform that looked like police uniforms, all four have been killed and the situation is now under control".

"Four attackers have been killed, they had come in a silver Corolla auto", Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon told Reuters.

Inside the stock exchange, broker Yaqub Memon said he and others were huddled inside their offices.

"An unfortunate incident took place at the Pakistan Stock Exchange".

Sindh Governor Imran Ismail condemned the incident, which he said was aimed at tarnishing Pakistan's "relentless war on terror". Have instructed the IG & security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are caught alive & their handlers are accorded exemplary punishments.

Police and rangers have arrived on the spot and surrounded the area.

It is not clear how many assailants are involved or who they are.
