At long last, Sony announced its first major PlayStation 5 showcase on Friday.

What games will we see at the PS5 reveal event?

The deleted sentence suggests that, while those 100 PS4 games will be available at launch, system updates will need to be introduced to expand the PS5 backwards-compatibility library - possibly over time.

When it comes to next-gen consoles it's fair to say that the Xbox Series X has been leading the way in terms of official reveals and exclusive showcases.

The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe. As you might expect, we'll be seeing PS5 games shown off at the event - Sony hasn't specifically said that we'll see the PS5 unit itself.

Sony says that the PS5 showcase will run for "a bit more than an hour" and will feature games from large and small studios that have been working on games for the new console. A lack of physical events has given us an fantastic opportunity to think differently and bring you on this journey with us, and hopefully, closer than ever before. The June 4 event should bring some of these games into the picture, and that might include Gran Turismo 7.

The Future of Gaming stream will be hosted on the PlayStation YouTube and Twitch channels.

PlayStation 5 launches worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2020.
