Sony has confirmed that the online event will showcase a first look at the games you'll be playing after PlayStation 5 launches this holiday. Instead Sony has focused on the console's technical specifications and the new controller. From now on, new games must be checked for PlayStation 5 compatibility, an option that was added to the PlayStation 4 SDK at the end of last month.

The company says that the digital showcase will run for just over an hour on Twitch/YouTube, and we're sure our friends at Push Square will cover it too!

A number of third-party studios have already confirmed their games for the PS5, on or around the launch window.

The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe and this gameplay will showcase the potential of the PS5 hardware.

Of course, the event will be online-only and it's part of a series of online events dedicated on the whole PS5 ecosystem. The next title in Polyphony Digital's racing series is widely tipped to be a PS5 launch day title, though that remains to be seen.

The site also said that starting on July 13, 2020, PlayStation 4 games going forward must be PlayStation 5 compatible. Next week however it's the turn of the content to make an appearance with a PlayStation "Future of Gaming" event being held.
