The council released a statement saying that the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga had agreed the format for the 11 remaining rounds in the top two Spanish divisions.

Competition will kick off on Thursday, 11 June when Betis play Sevilla.

The next La Liga season will begin on September 12 if the organizers' bid to complete the current campaign after a three-month pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic goes to plan, president Javier Tebas has said.

A number of issues - notably how long players will be kept isolated in training camps away from their families ahead of competitive matches - have taken time to resolve.

"Given the circumstances, the CSD would like to congratulate the members of the group for their spirit of dialogue and the good will they showed during the meeting at the department's headquarters", added the statement.

Spain's La Liga will resume on 11 June with next season starting on 12 September, says the league's president Javier Tebas.

La Liga was suspended on March 12, when a state of emergency was declared, with players forced to train at home.

Spanish clubs returned to training in groups of no more than 10 last week and this was increased to groups of 14 this week.

The next stage beginning Monday will involve full training sessions, in which teams will be able to work on tactics for the first time.

The German Bundesliga has already played three matchdays following its restart earlier this month, while the English Premier League and Italy's Serie A are also set to return in mid-June.
