McDonald's reopening gets underway as 6 'drive-thrus' open today

Ravenswood McDonald's Drive Thru is set to reopen today at 11am following the traffic chaos yesterday. Indeed, police had to get involved in Peterborough to help control the flow of cars at the Boongate restaurant.

The chain has now reopened all of the McDonald's drive-thru facilities in Ipswich, including Whitehouse, Ranelagh Road, Ravenswood and Cardinal Park.

Yes, if lockdown has taught us anything, it's that people really do love fast food.

The takeaway closed all of its branches recently due to the coronavirus pandemic but have since started to slowly reopen across the UK.

People were happy to queue to get their hands on a Maccies.

"We are working hard to expand our restaurant reopenings to all drive-throughs across the United Kingdom and Ireland by early June".

"We expect there will be some queues for some of our busier sites and our restaurants will look different, with Perspex screens at our Drive Thru windows and employees wearing protective equipment".

Social distancing has been introduced in the kitchens and service areas to help create a safe working environment for restaurant teams.

· Restaurants will return with smaller teams, offering a limited menu*.

"The last couple of months have been undoubtedly tough, both economically and socially, but the recent announcement from Government on the phased reopening of the country, offers reassurance and hope for brighter days ahead".

'But we will open some more delivery restaurants up soon (including in the north!)'.
