The beloved Jim Henson Company children's puppet program is returning as a rebooted Apple Original series "for new generations of fans to enjoy together".

The Fraggle Rock news comes shortly after Apple TV+ debuted Fraggle Rock: Rock On!

Henson's daughter Lisa will executive produce the new series, which will feature on Apple's new roster alongside shows like Helpsters, from the Sesame Workshop, and Snoopy in Space, from Peanuts.

"As part of the agreement, Apple has also acquired exclusive streaming rights to all 96 episodes of the original 1983-87 live-action HBO series (and some specials) and will make them available to subscribers in 100 countries on Wednesday, May 27th". Showrunners Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson (New Girl, American Dad) are attached to executive produce and write.

The ideals of friendship, sincerity with oneself, and learning to love those who are genuinely different were the cornerstone of Jim Henson's work throughout his 40-year career, and he considered Fraggle Rock as one of the expressions purest and most successful of that vision. Rita Peruggi ("The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance", "Yo Gabba Gabba!") will produce.

Apple TV+ is available on the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, iPod touch, Mac, select Samsung and LG smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV and Roku devices, as well as at, for $4.99 per month with a seven-day free trial. Harvey Mason Jr is the executive music producer for the series.

According to a report by Vulture, published Tuesday, Apple originally went into the Fraggle Rock negotiations only looking for new content. "The only cases in which Apple might consider buying library titles is if it is also working on a new project related to the existing property".

Fraggle Rock is getting the reboot treatment. This will include all-new episodes that will augment the Fraggle Rock back catalog.
