Tom Brady Made Pitch To Buccaneers — GM

It is highly likely we will never truly know wheat led to the eventual breakup between Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but it might just be that the two wanted to prove they could win without the other one.

"We have to go into the season expecting more from ourselves than anyone outside the building expects from us".

"Just out of respect to everything that he's accomplished and everything that he's done, I would kind of have to defer to him", Godwin said on ESPN on Friday.

It may end up being a great investment for Godwin.

"Certainly, he has a lot of great qualities that can make him a good player at the quarterback position", Slater said of the 2019 fourth-round draft pick. As a cornerback on the practice squad for the previous six weeks, he had worn number 43. And yes, Godwin had to give up his number, imagine if he refused to do so and Brady couldn't wear No. 12? As a result, Brady missed the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2008, when he was knocked out for the season in Week 1 due to a torn ACL.

The problem is, wide receiver Chris Godwin has been wearing the No. 12 for the Buccaneers.

Now Godwin takes on a jersey number that, until Franklin's one-game cameo previous year, had only been worn by quarterbacks in team annals.

Godwin told the Buccaneers' website that no transaction or compensation was involved, despite a precedent being set previously by new teammates getting numbers already taken. Vinny Testaverde is probably still the player most closely linked to that number in Bucs history, though Brad Johnson had the most success in it as the team's quarterback in the seasons surrounding its Super Bowl XXXVII victory.
