A return to the field, President Trump said Saturday in a Twitter pep talk.

The NBA and National Hockey League seasons have been suspended since March 12, while the MLB had to push back their opening day to an unknown day at this point.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the United States have increased by 100,000 in the past three days as the death toll stretched over 8,000 on Saturday.

"We have to get back", Trump said.

Trump held a conference call with 13 major sports commissioners and top executives on Saturday.

According to Johns Hopkins University, there are at least 300,915 confirmed virus cases in the United States and there have been 8,162 deaths so far.

Much of the country is under orders to stay home, including professional sports leagues that were among the first to clamp down in the pandemic. Trump called on them to continue efforts to support their fellow Americans.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, one of the attendees on the call, said that although sports were the first public ventures to be shut down, they are also interested in being the first to reopen once they receive the all clear from public health officials, according to ESPN.

"We've all seen the headlines in the last couple of days in Asia where they were opening up certain up businesses and now they're starting to roll back those openings because there's some spread, a boomerang", Newsom said.

There are more than 311,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus now. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.

President Trump believes the National Football League season should start on time in September. No matter how eager we are to sit in a baseball stadium on a warm spring night and pay outrageous prices for a beer or a hot dog, sports will have to wait until the pandemic is beaten down.

President Trump on federal medical supplies: "When the brunt of it comes, we want to be ready for the area that needs it". "But again, we're not going to destroy our country".

USA president Donald Trump warned Americans that the country is headed into a few brutal weeks ahead where "there will be a lot of death", and also circled back to his riff on reopening the economy as the coronavirus death toll surged past 8,400, overwhelming the domestic health care system. NY is poised to get more than 1100 ventilators from China and Oregon. The drug is being prioritized for trials. Trump followed up to say.
