Edmonton Oilers farmhand Colby Cave underwent emergency surgery Tuesday to remove a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain, the team announced.

In a tweet, the Oilers said Cave suffered a brain bleed overnight. We need a miracle. In four seasons with the Oilers and Bruins, Cave has nine points (four goals, five assists) in 67 games.

Colby Cave is just 25 years old.

"Last night and today have been the worst days of my life", Colby's wife Emily said on Instagram.

Cave's agent also told Mark Spector of Sportsnet that his client's condition is not related to COVID-19 and Cave was not in an accident of any kind.

The Battleford, Saskatchewan, native split this season with the Oilers and AHL Bakersfield Condors, appearing in 11 National Hockey League games.

Edmonton claimed him on waivers in January 2019, and dressed him for the final 33 games of that season (2-1-3).
