Coronavirus: Nation takes part in Clap for Carers to thank NHS staff

The spread of coronavirus across the globe has forced us to stop doing things that for so long we've taken for granted for a long time.

It's so everyone can show their support and appreciation for all those working hard in the NHS.

The concerts of our favourite artists have been cancelled, sports have been postponed, and our favourite restaurants closed - we really have pressed pause on life as we know it here in the UK.

A nationwide event to celebrate and thank those who are caring for us during the coronavirus pandemic is to take place tomorrow evening - and we'd love you to get involved!

The British Airways i360 is to turn its tower blue to thank NHS workers and to back the "Clap for our Carers" campaign.

Residents across the country are being urged to show their support for the NHS tonight (Thursday, March 26) by backing the Clap For Our Carers campaign.

Show your support on social media by using #ThankYouNHS and #ClapForOurCarers.

People around the United Kingdom are being encouraged to take part in a huge round of applause at 8pm tonight (Thursday, March 26) to show appreciation for our hard working NHS battling the coronavirus outbreak.

As with similar public gestures in other countries, people are being encouraged to join in from their front door, garden or balcony.
