Heading into the 2020 season, Hamilton has the chance to make history on several fronts - but the biggest record on offer is the chance to tie Michael Schumacher's record of seven World Championships.

Lewis Hamilton said he was amused by younger rivals talking up their chances as his Mercedes Formula One team unveiled the new vehicle that could make him a seven-times world champion this season.

"The guys have worked so far to put the auto together". The Finn hinted that he has a scheme in mind for taking the fight to his British teammate-one that doesn't involve the mind games Hamilton and Rosberg infamously played on one another.

"In the top teams, there isn't going to be a lot of movement", he said, after taking his latest Mercedes auto, the W11, for its first laps during a private session at Silverstone. "It is a real privilege to be in this position".

Last year Mercedes unveiled a W10 at the first test that bore very little resemblance to the vehicle that was raced at the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, having unveiled a major upgrade package - nearly amounting to a B-spec auto - at the second test. They couldn't be more excited or enthusiastic or driven. That is the most impressive thing. Petronas are still our corporation partner - a big strong alliance that was on the vehicle back then [in 2010] and is still on the auto today.

And if he keeps up his win average of the past six years, he will surpass the German's other record of 91 Grand Prix victories. "Maybe God is with him but he's not God".

"I find it amusing", Hamilton said. I have always been known to do my talking on the track, so I tend to see that as a sign of weakness.

Mercedes-AMG Motorsport has developed a new power unit for the 2020 Formula 1 season, in an attempt to gain an advantage over their rivals.

"It is pretty incredible, and we get to stretch its wings today".

"It's lovely to see that HPP have had a great winter in that regard, getting both more horses but also for the third-year straight bending over backwards to give us a PU that will give us chassis opportunities by making it easier for us to make a fast auto around it". With the regulations stable, their new auto is an evolution of last year's model that proved so successful.

And the former Toro Rosso team, who are being rebranded as Alpha Tauri this year, will unveil their auto in Austria on Friday evening.
