The developer is self-publishing a remastered version of 2013 Wii U game The Wonderful 101 and is now taking reservations for the game on Kickstarter.

Data for other territories isn't publicly available, but it's understood the original was a commercial disappointment for Platinum, which the studio said motivated its desire to bring the game to more platforms with 2020's Kickstarter.

As it stands at the time of this writing, donations sent in for Switch have already made waves with the goal, and the $50k mark has already been reached.

Here's Platinum's video released with the crowdfunding campaign below. As of press time the campaign has already met its minimum goal. Not so beefy after all, because backers have smashed through that goal and the PS4 version set as a $500,000 stretch goal.

The Wonderful 101 first released as a Nintendo Wii U exclusive, and was, to the chagrin of PlatinumGames, relegated to the platform against their control.

Currently, the Wonderful 101: Remastered Kickstarter has raised £481,953 and there are still 31 days of the campaign to go.

"It has been a goal of Platinum Games to own and self-publish the IPs that we create".

The Japanese developer opened the crowdfunding project in a surprise launch on Monday, with the aim of bringing the 2013 Wii U action-adventure game to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC. Higher backer tiers include digital comics, the game's soundtrack, a physical copy of the game, or if you're daring enough, you can get your Twitter account blocked by the one and only Hideki Kamiya for around $100.
