There were 2,102 new confirmed infections in China during the day, bringing the cumulative total to 11,791.

Authorities in Hubei, the province at the epicentre of the outbreak, reported 56 new fatalities.

In Santa Clara County, a man tested positive for the virus following his January 24 return from Wuhan and Shanghai, according to Dr. Sarah Cody, director of Santa Clara County's Public Health Department.

The overall confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 14,380 by the end of Saturday.

The province remains under virtual quarantine, with roads sealed off and public transport shut down, but small numbers of travelers continue to breach the lockdown.

Travel restrictions in the USA were enacted as part of a presidential proclamation and declaration of a public health emergency.

But the epidemic spread when the Chinese traveled across the country and overseas during the New Year holidays that started last week.

As of sunday All flights from China to the US UU. they will go to one of the seven airports, according to a Politico report. These are Atlanta, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, the John F. Kennedy International Airport in NY and the O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, acting deputy secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli announced. Once on the ground, passengers will be subject to enhanced health screening. Mongolians will be barred from going to China as well.

Visitors to Hubei Province, the populous region where the outbreak began, may be quarantined for as long as 14 days, the agency said.

Azar and other members of an administration task force assembled to address the virus sought to play down public fears about an outbreak, emphasizing that the risk at this time of the coronavirus to the American public was "low".

In addition, US citizens who have traveled within the past two weeks to China's Hubei Province - epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak - will be subject to a mandatory quarantine of 14 days, the incubation period of the virus, officials said.

China has been transparent in disclosing the disease and sharing the genome sequence of the virus, a move which has won wide recognition from experts from countries including Germany, France, the United States and Japan.

"Some of the new data that's come out of China has shown that the incubation period is, as we expected, for the most part around a maximum of 10 days, so we've been using 14 days... to give ourselves a bit of a buffer zone", she said. Despite concerns over the spread of coronavirus, Cody said people are more likely to become ill from the flu.

In China, the outbreak continues to spend.

Talks between the Hospital Authority Employees Alliance and the Hospital Authority failed after the city's Chief Executive Carrie Lam decided not to attend negotiations on Sunday, Radio Television Hong Kong reported, citing the union's chairwoman Winnie Yu.

The National Health Commission reported 171 cases have been "cured and discharged from hospital".

China, as the government has repeatedly stated, will also continue to strengthen collaboration with the World Health Organization and other countries in an open, transparent and responsible manner, so as to beat the outbreak as quickly as possible.

When the World Health Organization deemed the outbreak on Thursday a "public health emergency", it said it "does not recommend any travel or trade restriction based on the current information available".

Researchers and journalists have documented an expanding number of cases of misinformation about the virus, ranging from racist explanations for the disease's origin to false claims about miracle cures. They will discuss a joint response, Germany's health minister Jens Spahn said on Sunday.

Another 132 cases of coronavirus have been detected in 23 more countries, including among 12 people who had not traveled to China.

The State Department travel advisory came about a week after the agency ordered all nonemergency USA personnel and their family members to leave Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak. The two cities are known for their business ties. One of the facilities was built in eight days.
