Showtime has chose to cancel the Ray Donovan TV show, opting not to renew it for an eighth and final season. It cast Schreiber in the titular role of a celebrity fixer, initially based out of Los Angeles and later NY.

"After seven incredible seasons, Ray Donovan ended his Showtime run", the taxi driver told TVLine in a press release. "We're proud that the collection ended amid such sturdy viewership and on such a robust observe".

On Jan. 19, the season 7 finale aired - which now also serves as Ray Donovan's series finale. So those responsible for the series would have the opportunity to leave everything closed, but this time we will have to stay with the doubt.

Levine went on to notice that the sequence was all the time meant to run "about seven or eight seasons". "Nothing has been decided yet but it's fair to say it is nearing the end", Levine said.

It was widely assumed that the long-running Showtime drama was a lock to return for an eighth and final season - that is until titular leading man Liev Schreiber issued a cryptic message on social media.

Another TV viewer said of the decision to end the show, 'I do not watch Ray Donovan but a premium cable series ending on a cliffhanger after that many seasons is a cheap f***ing move'.

Throughout its run, Ray Donovan has landed a slew of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, successful an Emmy for visitor star Hank Azaria and a Golden Globe for Jon Voight.

Created for Showtime by Ann Biderman, Ray Donovan first began airing on the network in 2013. Whereas he made progress with Dr. Amiot (Alan Alda), there have been risks from the previous that required the Ray Donovan of previous. "Between NYC mayor Ed Feratti (Zach Grenier), an unrelenting NYPD officer hunting for the truth and clients old and new, Ray struggles to find the balance between fixing for clients and fixing himself", Showtime explained in a logline. And when Feratti's corruption brings a piece of Mickey's past (Voight) back to New York, Ray is forced to seek answers to long-buried questions.
