On the question, whether he agrees with the observation Blankfein about the fact that Sanders, as President, will "destroy" the economy, Mnuchin told reporters on Wednesday: "I think that Lloyd Blankfein could not be more right in that".

"If Dems go on to nominate Sanders, the Russians will have to reconsider who to work for to best screw up the US". He also alleged that Russian Federation would be supporting Sanders. He also said Sanders "doesn't care about our military" and "is just as polarizing as [President] Trump".

Former Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Bankfein is apparently not a fan of Sen.

It is not the first time that Sanders and Blankfein were drawn into an online spat. Before becoming Treasury secretary, Mnuchin was the head of OneWest Bank, which foreclosed https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-congress-mnuchin/ex-goldman-banker-mnuchin-installed-as-treasury-secretary-idUSKBN15S0H0 on more than 36,000 homeowners after the financial crisis.

He and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA have faced continued disdain from Wall Street for their full-throated attacks on corporate excess and support for new taxes on billionaires to tackle wealth inequality. A key Sanders campaign promise concerns the reversal of Trump's corporate and wealth tax cuts, while increasing the corporate fiscal burden, from 21 percent to 35 percent.

In response to Blankfein, Sanders' marketing campaign supervisor Faiz Shakir tweeted: "That is what panic from the Wall Avenue elite seems to be and feels like".

Blankfein, during his 2006-2018 tenure as CEO of Goldman Sachs, reportedly contributed to Democratic Party candidates and supported Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

With the presidential race just beginning, "To say that this one or that one is having an impact on the economy, it's a little bit early", Solomon said.
