Three more people in Northern California have been diagnosed with the coronavirus known as 2019-nCoV, health officials in the area said Sunday, doubling the number of cases in the state and bringing the total across the country to 11. Two have been confirmed in IL and one each in the states of Washington, Arizona and MA.

Also Sunday, officials confirmed a woman who recently traveled from Wuhan to Santa Clara County also was found to have the virus.

The San Francisco Department of Public Health announced Friday afternoon that there are no cases of coronavirus in San Francisco.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department says a second case of novel coronavirus has developed within the county in the past week.

Cody said there was no risk of infection for the general public from the Santa Clara County case.

Over the weekend, three large tents were erected on the tarmac of March Air Reserve Base - where 195 coronavirus evacuees remained under federal quarantine orders - as a precaution in case additional planes carrying passengers who need medical screening are unexpectedly rerouted to the base, officials said Sunday.

"We are a large county, and many of our residents travel frequently for business and personal reasons", Cody explained Friday.

A second case involves a woman who arrived in the US on January 23 to visit family, officials said. The Public Health Department has been providing the family with food and other necessary items.

"We continue to monitor the situation closely to protect the health of San Benito County residents and limit the spread of this virus", said Dr. Marty Fenstersheib, San Benito County Health Officer. He went directly home and only left his home twice to seek medical care.

In both counties, health authorities are following up with anyone who has had close contact with the patients, but they noted that casual contact with an infected person - such as visiting the same grocery store or movie theater - carries only "minimal risk of developing infection".

However, a few weeks after he returned from China, the husband and wife started feeling symptoms of the virus and called health officials, according to KSBW. Patients can display pneumonia-like symptoms, including fever, coughing and shortness of breath. Anyone who has had contact with the man and his household members will undergo a 14-day quarantine.

Dr. Cody believes at this point, the flu is much more risky in Santa Clara County than the novel coronavirus.

The new circumstances are related to shuttle to Wuhan, China, the epicenter of the outbreak that has shaken the inventory marketplace, led to a run on face mask, and brought about restrictions on shuttle.

The U.S. has declared the virus a public health emergency, issuing do not travel alerts for Americans thinking of traveling to China and urging citizens already in China to "consider departing using commercial means", according to The Weather Channel. The United States said it may stage additional evacuation flights for private USA citizens in China's virus-hit Wuhan on Thursday.
