Samsung Galaxy Z Flip now available to buy

Samsung's foldables up until now have been a single fold in the middle of the screen.

Netflix has struck a deal with Samsung that will make bonus content from some Netflix shows available on Galaxy smartphones.

We at Android Authority also tried our luck at scoring a Galaxy Z Flip in NY when sales opened last night.

According to the publication, "In the first week of its release, the first batch of Samsung's new foldable smartphone here is expected to reach some 20,000 devices - 10 times greater than that of the company's first foldable phone". While we suspect Australia will see the Galaxy Z Flip as the year goes on, the US and South Korea are the first places that get Samsung's second-gen folding phone.

We'll let you know what that is when Samsung tells us, but for now, it's just something that's coming in the near future.

Imagine having to open your Flip tens of times a day with one hand just to check on a notification, and you can see why Samsung is trying to market it as something else than simply a big phone that can turn into a small one. You can also try buying the phone from physical carrier stores, but based on our experience we doubt you'll have much luck. The Galaxy Fold folds horizontally, the Z Flip vertically.

A possible reason for the Galaxy Z Flip's high demand is its improved design and cheaper price tag. In comparison, Samsung has managed to sell about 37 million Galaxy S10 units within the first six months since launch. The aforementioned Korea Herald story suggests the same.

There is but one catch: Australia isn't one of the first countries scheduled to get the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip folding smartphone is now available to buy and the handset costs £1300 in the United Kingdom, it comes in a choice of two colors, Mirror Purple and Mirror Black.

The handset features a 6.7 inch folding AMOLED display that has a FHD+ RESOLUTION OF 2636 X 1080 pixels and it comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor and 8GB of RAM.
