An official IP rating could be on the way In a cryptic Tweet published over the weekend, serial leaker Max J. appeared to tease official IP68 water and dust resistance on the upcoming OnePlus 8 series. Ahead of the launch, nearly everything has been revealed about the OnePlus 8 series.

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will look nearly identical.

Notably, the feature will still offer more confidence in OnePlus users than a simple video it had shared for the OnePlus 7 Pro, where the smartphone was dunk in a bucket of water. OnePlus 8 Pro will measure 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size.

Leaked renders have suggested that the OnePlus 8 Pro is going to feature the punch-hole camera design, which is similar to the one found in the leaked renders of the OnePlus 8, Samsung Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series of smartphones.

The 8 Pro is set to come with a 6.5-inch Full HD display, a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 865, a triple lens camera system (60MP, 16MP, and 13MP), a 32MP front camera, a 4,500 mAh battery, 50W charging, and a choice of 8GB or 12GB RAm plus 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Besides the flagship features, what will be even more interesting to see in the upcoming OnePlus phone will be an official IP rating.

We should know how true all this is before too long, as the OnePlus 8 range is likely to land around May.

Chinese handset maker OnePlus, last year for the first time, launched two smartphones at the same time with OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro and it seems that this year the company is going to take it up a notch as a couple of leaks in the past have suggested that we may also see a third handset. The notch and pop-up camera technologies used a year ago are also being replaced with subtler punch-hole implementations.

However, OnePlus adding water/dust resistance rating to OnePlus 8 Pro can also lead to a price bump on the smartphone.

Powering the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will undoubtedly be Qualcomm's Snapdragon 865.

Here's where it gets a little less believable; the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a 48MP camera, a 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultrawide-angle lens, while the OnePlus 8 misses out on a telephoto lens and gets a 2MP depth sensor. Also to be expected is Android 10 straight out of the box and support for wireless charging, something OnePlus has skipped on in the past. It could pack a 4500 mAh battery with 50 Watt fast charging support. OnePlus 8 Pro will have curved edges, like its predecessor and the size of the display panel is tipped to be 6.65-inch, slightly bigger than the 6.5-inch panel on the OnePlus 8.
