NWS issues winter weather advisory for KC area

Light mountain snow will begin to fall by Tuesday night, and last through Wednesday.

Central Missouri's Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Gasconade, Maries, Moniteau, Morgan and Osage counties are included in the potentially affected area, among others. Snow will be heavy at times tomorrow morning, then taper off from midday through the afternoon. Winds gusting as high as 25 miles per hour. Additionally, the winter weather advisories for Dickinson and Marion counties are in effect until midnight.

IMPACTS. Travel could be very hard.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect beginning later today and through sundown Wednesday for most of the News 12 viewing area.

Precipitation should change to all snow later n the day Monday, with the bulk of acclamation in Cheyenne falling late Monday into Tuesday. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commutes.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow and ice are expected or occurring. Slow down and use caution while traveling.

Frontier: Passengers who were due to travel to, from or through the following airports on February 3-4 may make one itinerary change, including origin and destination city: Salt Lake City, Utah; Denver; and Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is often hard to tell when ice begins to form, so do not be caught off guard.
