Square Enix has released a bunch of brand new Final Fantasy VII Remake screenshots, and frankly, we still can't believe how good this game looks.

Also related to battles are the Materia in the screenshots. We get an actual fleshed out look at Midgar and its people (an angle I really hope the remake delves into more as to give some humanity to what Avalache is doing), the token Aeris/Aerith scene and that memorable train ride that rubs right up against the opening of the actual game.

A few of the shots also take a look at side quests you can take in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. You can also get a closer look at the beastly Red XII, who previously showed up in the most recent Final Fantasy 7 Remake trailer.

When Tifa's ATB bar is filled by attacking enemies, she can use a special ability.

Today's images also show the summons you'll recieve for pre-ordering various versions of the game.

This young chap is Chadley - a 15 year-old research trainee who works under Professor Hojo. While the Deadly Dodge Materia lets you hit back immediately after evading an attack with a powerful melee strike. You'll find him in the Sector 7 slums, where he researches new types of Materia.

Battle Report quests are available from Chadley.

This involves completing Battle Report quests, which task you to meet certain requirements, such as making enemies burst. With Final Fantasy VII Remake expected to conclude just after the party escapes Midgar, this weapon can now be obtained somewhere within the city. You'll get Cactuar when you preorder the Deluxe Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, or 1st Class Editions of the game.

By exploiting this resource through their Mako Reactors, the Shinra Electric Power Company has all but seized control of the entire world.

The Corkscrew Tunnel connects the slum streets to the nicer living areas on top of Midgar's plates.
