Dwyane Wade recently revealed that his son, formerly known as Zion, is now Zaya because she is a transgender female. And I want to be referenced as she and her.

Wade, who retired from the National Basketball Association previous year after a 15-season career, appeared on Ellen Tuesday, where opened up about a key exchange with Zaya, his child from his marriage to Siohvaughn Funches.

"I have been blessed to have my best friend, Zaya with me for 12 years".

"We did every thing collectively...we fought, we performed, we laughed and we cried".

According to one of his captions, he wrote, "We support each other with Pride".

"I'm also the parent of a trans kid around Zaya's age, and it's lovely to see her radiance and confidence and see your support", one person wrote, and then shared a publication her 13-year-old had made called "A Beginner's Guide to Being an Ally to LGBTQ+ people, friends, and family". Her dad confirmed the news on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday, an expressed his and wife Gabrielle Union's full support for Zaya. It is our job as parents to listen to them, give them the best information we can and the best answer. "And that doesn't change because sexuality is now involved in it". Wade said. "Even through that, you still want people to make sure that they live their truth?" I think that in the future I am ready to live my truth. "Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, "Hey, so I want to talk to you guys".

In a candid video Dwyane captured together with his outstanding little one and Gabrielle posted on Twitter, Zaya shared, "If [you] are afraid to be judged, I might say, don't even take into consideration that". He is also the father of son Xavier, 6, with Aja Metoyer and daughter Kaavia, 15 months, who he shares with Union. "And we are proud allies as well".

And it's clear Zaya has exclusively pure love and assist from each single member of her household.

"It's great that a young father who is African American is shedding light on their child because so many African American individuals get this stigma that there is no love in the community, that there is no acceptance in the community".

The child told the family that she wished to go by she/her pronouns and the name Zaya.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom lauded Zaya for embracing her individuality, writing, 'Yes. Yes. Yes. Are you even... like, what is the goal of being on this ground if you are going to attempt to become somebody you're not?

It seems, also, that Zaya is indeed proud to now be living the life she had been supposed to.
