Colin Kaepernick staying prepared for possible National Football League call even after bungled workout

"I want to tell the story of my evolution, and the events that led me to protest systemic oppression, in hopes that it will inspire others to rise in action".

A handful of teams watched Kaepernick and at least one scout reportedly said he still maintained an elite level arm - the same arm that got the 49ers within one play of a Super Bowl victory during the 2012 season.

This discussion only heated up after both Tua Tagovailoa and Trevor Lawrence played a major hand in securing a national championship for their school during their first year playing college football, and after the former saw his junior campaign cut short this season after falling victim to a debilitating hip injury, plenty of people called for the NFL to rethink its current policy concerning when players are allowed to enter the league. Kaepernick, however, insisted his protest was not directed at American servicemembers. Some 49ers continued to kneel during the 2017 season while Kaepernick remained a free agent, and Vice President Mike Pence staged a highly publicized walk-out when 23 San Francisco players kneeled before the 49ers' October 8, 2017 game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick decries "American imperialism" in a series of tweets after the USA airstrike that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani.

The 32-year-old insisted Thursday that he still wants to play, almost four years after he took his last snap.

Though nothing came of the ordeal, Kaepernick still trains five days per week in anticipation of an opportunity to rejoin the league. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way".

Kaepernick told Bell that "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" was "a book that changed my life", and he wanted to channel his lifelong interest in literature into "ownership over my story".

He is also partnering with Audible, which will exclusively release the audio version, and to create additional original audio projects with other authors and influential figures. "It's something that should be distributed to the people who are putting in the work to be able to tell their stories and tell them in a genuine and authentic way".
