6 students hit, one killed near Oklahoma high school

Townsend struck vehicles before and after hitting the six students, according to Lewis.

"It appears (the suspect) struck vehicles before and after striking the students", Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said Monday. Multiple other victims were said to be in critical condition Monday.

Kolby Crum, a senior, remains in critical condition and Joseph White, also a senior, is no longer in critical condition but remained hospitalized.

Lewis said an adult male is in custody after a red pickup truck hit the students around 3:30 p.m.in the 100 block of S Morgan Dr.

"This community is strong and we're resilient, but it's tough", said Dustin Horstkoetter, Director of Safety and Security for Moore Public Schools.

Organizers of the Moore War Run 5K race took to Twitter on Monday to pay tribute to Freeman. Sophomore student Yuridia Martinez died in the hospital Tuesday.

'The families, students and staff of Moore High School are enduring heart-wrenching tragedy this evening, ' Hofmeister said.

Townsend's son, Cody Townsend, had died in a crash on Sunday afternoon in Moore, KFOR Channel 4 reports.

Many students were the first to call 911 and help their fellow classmates, police said. All students will be informed of the accident and of Rachel's passing by their first hour teacher tomorrow. "We want to help". The condition of the other two students is unclear.

A teenager was killed and five others were injured when 56-year-old Max Leroy Townsend allegedly hit several members of a high school cross-country team as they ran outside Moore High School in Oklahoma.
