The Leafs said Rielly, who underwent a CT scan Monday afternoon, would be placed on injured reserve and reassessed after eight weeks.

The Leafs say they will reassess his injury after the eight week period.

Rielly, 25, has battled a lower-body injury for much of the season. The Toronto Maple Leafs have scored 3.59 goals per game on the year while allowing 3.26 goals per game.

With Muzzin week-to-week, the Leafs will need more from their mobile defencemen such as Tyson Barrie and Travis Dermott.

On the season, the Maple Leafs are now 24-16-6 and are now in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division.

Rielly has been nowhere near as dominant as a year ago when he had 20 goals and 72 points, but has had his moments this season.

Marincin was acquired by the Maple Leafs in a June 27, 2015 trade with the Oilers after being selected by Edmonton in the second round (46th overall) of the 2010 National Hockey League draft. At the really the very least, he's been able to give the Maple Leafs with strong 6/7 bet really economical. Toronto received goals from Zach Hyman, John Tavares and 2 goals from Mitch Marner, but it wasn't enough to come out on top.

Toronto lost to Texas 5-3 on Saturday and will play at San Antonio on Sunday.

Then Rielly went down and caused further havoc on Toronto's back end. The total has gone over in 8 of Toronto's last 11 games against New Jersey. He became only the second defenceman in the organization's history to begin his career with seven consecutive seasons with 20 assists.
