Sania Mirza marks return with win after two-year maternity leave

Sania Mirza made a positive return to competitive tennis after nearly two years away with an opening-round in women's doubles at the Hobart International on Tuesday. She was last seen in action in October 2017 and is using a protected ranking. Sania Mirza's pair gained the match 2-6,7-6 (3) 10-3.

In an engaging showdown, Sania and Kichenok weren't off to a particularly good start as they double-faulted twice, failed to convert any of the seven break points that came their way and lost their serve two times to go down 2-6 in the opening set.

In the final set, they carried on with the momentum to outplay their opponents, winning 10-3.
