No other iPhone Smart Battery Cases will be included in this program.

Apple claims that few faulty Smart Battery Cases were sold past year for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR phones. Some iPhone battery cases are unable to charge or only do so intermittently when plugged into a power source, which prevents the iPhone from charging properly.

Apple emphasised that this isn't a safety issue and eligible smart battery cases can be replaced for free.

Apple's iPhone battery cases sell for $129.

For all such affected units, Apple has launched a replacement program where customers can bring their unit to their nearest Apple Store or service provider and get it replaced for free.

In a notice published on Friday, Apple confirmed it'll replace all affected units manufactured between January 2019 and October 2019.

Apple says that customers with an impacted Smart Battery Case can find an Apple Authorized Service Provider or make an appointment at an Apple retail location to have their case replaced.

If you think you have one of the dud units, you need to take it to an Apple Store or an officially authorized Apple fix shop.

In the blog post, Apple has noted, it may limit fix to the original country or region of purchase of the product.

The description in this post says the Smart Battery Cases meant to wirelessly charge these iPhones have been found to be defective. The company will dispose of all malfunctioning Smart Battery Cases in an environmentally friendly way.
