They will be hoping to give their best shot at winning the cup and taking the trophy back home.

With just over a month left before the women's edition of the ICC World T20 starts, associations and cricket boards across the globe are releasing their 15 member squads for the tournament.

With former Indian skipper, Mithali Raj having hung her boots in the shortest format of the game, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and young batter Jemimah Rodriguez now form the core of the batting unit. Uncapped player Ghosh was compensated for their outstanding overall performance within the recently held Women's Challenger Trophy.

Ghosh realises that now she has to put every inch of effort to prepare for the showpiece event in Australia where India will kick off their campaign against the hosts on February 21 in Sydney. "In the past one year, we have taken five to six debutants", Hemlatha Kala, chairperson of women's selection committee, said.

Alternatively, the two-tier format now used in the T20 World Cup - with leading countries only joining the tournament in the second stage, and other countries having to qualify from the first stage for the right to join them - could be persisted with.

Voters announced a 16-member squad for a tri-series ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia, with Nuzhat Parveen joining as a 16th member. "Richa Ghosh is a new player and here the role of selectors increases", Hemlatha told reporters at a press conference here. "Our strength is spin and we have to stick to that and whenever we need them, they will perform for us", added Harmanpreet.

"Before the World Cup, this series is going to be a big one for us and we will look for our best combination and with that we will give chances to newcomer also". As reported by Cricbuzz, Hilton said, "It's a group that has the talent, youth, experience and desire to help us win the T20 World Cup". In recent years the ICC has targeted the U.S. market and is fully focussed in their quest to establish cricket in the country.

The International Cricket Council is considering expanding the T20 World Cup from 16 to 20 teams from the 2023-31 cycle.

Tri-Series (16 member) squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodriguez, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Veda Krishnamurthy, Richa Ghosh, Tania Bhatia, Poonam Yadav, Radha Yadav, Rajeshwari Gaikwad, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Nuzhat Parveen.
