A Wisconsin pro-life group marched with thousands in the nation's capital today for the annual March for Life.

In his opening arguments, Trump defence team lead Pat Cipollone said the president's team was not allowed to participate in the House's impeachment inquiry, despite House Democrats making a formal offer to the White House to be present during the House's hearings. We're here for a very simple reason: "to defend the right for every child, born and unborn, to fulfil their God-given potential", Trump said.

Trump recounted his administration's accomplishments for the pro-life movement, including restoring the Mexico City Policy to block federal funds for organizations that perform or promote abortions overseas, issuing new Title X rules that prevent family-planning clinics from referring or promoting abortion - a rule that has resulted in Planned Parenthood losing much of its government funding, and nominating more than 180 federal judges who "apply the Constitution as written". "We are so grateful", Trump told tens of thousands of attendees gathered on the National Mall. Together, we must protect, cherish and defend the dignity and sanctity of every human life. They argue that Trump doesn't even trust his how intelligence agencies as if he handpicked every single person in every intelligence agency.

There was a strong police presence at the march.

Reproductive rights groups are using Trump's appearance at the March for Life to remind their supporters of his opposition to abortion rights. He spoke to the gathering a year ago by video.

It was the first time a sitting president attended the event, something Trump called a "profound honor" during a midday speech.

On the eve of the march, Southern Baptist ethicist Russell Moore commended Trump's appearance.

Mr Trump is the first president to attend the march, March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said. And I think we have to make the choice to be active.

Cipollone also touted Trump's "strong record on confronting Russian Federation", which numerous US intelligence agencies and special counsel Robert Mueller determined attempted to interfere in the 2016 election. "For 47 years, Americans of all backgrounds have traveled from across the country to stand for life". The Department of Health and Human Services has also advanced multiple measures to regulate or restrict abortion access, some with the professed aim of protecting health care providers' religious freedom, during his tenure.

Trump praised and thanked the pro-life movement for their work to help women and children. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the Susan B. Anthony List, and Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, are co-chairs of the board.

A speaker urged them to keep fighting "until America is pro-life". "We must fight like we've never fought before". Trump then called for an investigation of a made-up Ukrainian "server", a morsel of Russian propaganda that Trump would later urge on the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy. We plead for your mercy.

"From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and overseas, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering", said Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life, in a statement announcing the appearance.
