"I don't know if Conor wins it means that he fights me".

When asked why he didn't choose an easy fight and made it hard for Cerrone, McGregor said to ESPN: "I know I did".

McGregor has also spoken of an interest in taking on UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman after opting to make his return at 170 pounds, which he feels is more comfortable for Cerrone.

"Also, 170 is an exciting one for me". I like 170. I like what's going on in the 170 division at the moment.

This time around, McGregor doesn't need to manufacture animosity and produce pre-fight theatrics.

McGregor returns to action next Saturday for the firs time since suffering defeat to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October of previous year, where "The Notorious" will face veteran striker Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone in the UFC 246 headliner from Las Vegas.

What do you think about the McGregor promo ahead of UFC 246? Maybe I'm just looking into the future, but I don't think so. "It opens up so many more options, right?"

For months, the talk of the town has been that McGregor's plan for 2020 included a fight against Cerrone, a match against Masvidal, and then a title shot against UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The last time he fought in the UFC was in October 2018 when he was beaten by Khabib Nurmagomedov. Not a long history, but we've had a history. Early on Sunday morning, McGregor will set foot inside the cage for the first time in well over a year. "I appreciate Donald, I have to say".

Get the full fight card and start times here. I know Donald is a good fighter, he has great records, most fights, most headbuttons, most fights, most rounds. "I'm happy to come back and have my comeback fight in the beginning of my season against Donald, and I look forward to it", he said.

"Mayble, I'm going to go over Donald and do a quick turnaround against Justin, but he's undoubtedly on the list".
