With just less than three minutes left in the opening quarter of their 110-107 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night at the American Airlines Center, Dallas center Dwight Powell caught the ball near the top of the key and started to make a move to drive through the lane to the hoop. While Clippers improved their record to 31-13 and moved to the second place, Mavericks are now fifth on the Western Conference points table with a record of 27-16.

Shamet helped the clippers take the game late in the fourth quarter.

"Off the court and on the court, he gave us a lot", Doncic said. "We loved keeping the whole game in the lead, but it won't be that way". I just wanted to win. "We've won eight out of 10 games".

Luka Doncic had 36 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for Dallas.

He has scored at least 25 points in his last 11 games and is averaging 29.1 per game, the fourth-best in the league behind James Harden (36.9), Giannis Antetokounmpo (30.0) and Trae Young (29.2).

The Clippers led 82-78 heading to the room. But the Mavericks rallied strongly in the fourth quarter, clawing their way back level from 90-82 down with nine minutes left. JaMychal Green missed two free throws for LA, but then Doncic missed two - the second intentionally - and Leonard sealed it with two free throws. Clippers' escort, Patrick Beverley, did not play in the second half due to a pain in the right groin.

The Dallas Mavericks brought back a big man but lost another Tuesday evening.

"We've been watching film together, seeing what mistakes we've been making", said Kawhi Leonard, who scored 36 points against the Mavs. He finished with 18 points. Montrezl Harrell also added a double-digit contribution with 12 points. "He'll be fine during rehabilitation if we get the worst news". "We're happy with the progress we're making and we're starting to turn a corner".
