LOS ANGELES: Seven microphones used on tour by South Korean pop band BTS have sold for $83,200 (£63,298.84) at a pre-Grammy Awards auction for charity, more than eight times the expected starting price, Julien's Auctions said on Friday.

If confirmed, it will be the K-pop band's second appearance on the Grammy stage after BTS attended the awards' 2019 event as an award presenter.

Grande is one of many musicians set to perform at this year's GRAMMY Awards, while BTS is reportedly set to take the stage as part of Lil Nas X's performance of the chart-dominating hit "Old Town Road".

BTS left for Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Based on the complicated BTS choreography they have practiced all week, fans think it can't be for their "Old Town Road" performance, especially since Lil Nas X's previous performances from the song did not include much choreography in addition to two groovy-stage and vibrate with the crowd.

Diplo, Mason Ramsey and Billy Ray Cyrus will join BTS in the collaboration.

What is clear, however, is that BTS is aiming to flawless the performance.

This year's Grammys air live this Sunday, January 26 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS. "#BTSArmy." The vague legend of the Academy leads fans to wonder if BTS is also planning a solo scene. BTS leader RM also released "Seoul Town Road", a collaborative song featured on "Old Town Road", in July previous year, along with Lil Nas X.
