If true, the choice of Eilish would be a dramatic change of direction for the legendary franchise's long history of theme-song performers, which have progressed from Shirley Bassey to Paul McCartney and Duran Duran over the decades.

We're only a couple of months out from No Time To Die marking the swan song of Daniel Craig's tenure as James Bond. "I'm still in shock".

"Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we've been dreaming about doing our entire lives".

Emmy Award-winning director Cary Joji Fukunaga helmed the film, which features recent Golden Globe victor Phoebe Waller-Bridge as a co-writer.

When Fallon played a clip of the old theme song, then "Bad Guy", remarking how similar they are, Gomez said, "I love Billie".

"Their creative integrity and talent are second to none and I can not wait for audiences to hear what they've brought - a fresh new perspective whose vocals will echo for generations to come".

Previous Bond singers include Sam Smith, Adele, Alicia Keys and Madonna.

The news comes after the production announced legendary composer Hans Zimmer would be taking on the film's score.

The news was confirmed hours after Eilish teased her involvement in the franchise by posting a series of Bond actresses to her Instagram Stories. She later confirmed the news herself on Instagram. Many thought the clue was significant due to the fact that Fukunaga only follows 81 people on the social media site. The 18-year-old singer will perform the title track on upcoming Bond flick "No Time to Die".

The pic releases on April 10 in North America via United Artists Releasing banner, with Universal Pictures International launching in the UK and select international territories on April 2.

"This is going to be my last Bond, I think", he said.
