The Golden Knights have overtaken the Kings 35-5 in the past two periods, but have failed to overcome the four-goal deficit.

The 3rd straight game the Golden Knights were a complete trainwreck in the 1st and it cost them their second straight game.

Marc-Andre Fleury finished with 19 saves for Vegas, which lost its third straight game, all in order.

Tyler Toffoli had a goal and an assist, and Alec Martinez and Ben Hutton also scored goals for Los Angeles, which snapped a three-game losing streak despite being outshot 36-5 over the final two periods.

Smith brought Vegas back to within a goal with his 17th, chipping in a backhand feed from behind the net by Chandler Stephenson, but Jarry came up with several big saves down the stretch to deny Vegas' comeback hopes.

Toffoli got into the action when he picked up the puck during a puck drop and shot a wrist in front of Subban's glove. Bemstron scored on a power-play one-timer to make it 1-0 late in the first. Moments later it was Kempe burying a lingering rebound in the crease with 1.7 seconds left in the period. Pacioretty, who is on pace for a career-best season hit the 20-goal mark for the seventh time in his career.
